This hand built bowl is made with buff clay using both drape mold and coil techniques. It is then hand brushed with a black undergaze and hand carved with a unique sgrafitto design. This bowl is a great size for produce, soup, or just used as decor.

The process: A slab of clay is rolled out and draped across the surface of a mold, then pressed into shape. Coils are then applied on top to give the bowl additional height. A foot is hand-cut and attached to the bowl’s bottom. When the clay is bone dry, the inside of the bowl is hand brushed with black underglaze, then a floral design is hand carved into the clay using the sgraffito technique. After the bowl is fired, it is dipped in clear glaze, giving it a shiny finish. It is then fired for the final time.

Bowl is irregular/organic in shape. Measurements on handmade bowls are approximate in dimensions as they are irregular and unique. Due to the nature of handmade, I can’t be exact. Uniqueness of each piece is appreciated.
